Completing these three steps will allow you to receive push notifications on your mobile phone:
Step 1: The camera detects a motion event and sends it to the AWS cloud server.
Step 2: The cloud server forwards the motion event information to the Apple (iOS)/Google (Android) notification server.
Step 3: The Apple (iOS)/Google (Android) notification server sends the message to your phone, which will display a notification when received.
In general, these three steps are completed within a few seconds. However, in some cases, there may be delays in Step 1 or Step 3.
Step 1 may experience a delay of several seconds. In most cases, this is due to poor network connectivity or unstable signals. Please ensure that your Wi-Fi network connection is strong and place the camera in an area with a strong Wi-Fi signal. Selecting a 720p resolution (SD) for video recording can reduce bandwidth usage.
Step 3 may experience delays of several minutes or even tens of minutes. Many external factors can contribute to these delays, such as the Apple/Google notification servers, poor or unstable mobile network connections, etc. In most cases, these delays resolve themselves after some time.
However, for certain brands of Android phones, to address the delay issue, you may need to add our app to the whitelist in the phone's power-saving mode settings. The battery management on Android phones may kill background-running apps, preventing them from receiving timely push notifications from the Google (Android) notification server.
To add the app to the whitelist in power-saving mode:
- Open phone settings.
- Go to Applications.
- Find our app.
- Tap on Battery.
- Tap on Battery Optimization.
- Select "Don't optimize" to exclude the app from battery optimization.
